Case Study:

Hydraulic Fracturing

Overview
A frac was completed on a well in the Wolfcamp A formation of the Permian basin. The well was treated with SUSTAIN biosurfactant-based completion fluid additives, and production performance was compared to an analog well treated with a traditional premium surfactant.

Details

• Unconventional Texas well
• Wolfcamp A frac
• 12-month cumulative production analysis

Post-Treatment Highlights

• 30% increase in oil production
• 30% increase in gas production
• 1/3 of the dosage rate required

Results:

In the analog well provided by the operator for performance comparison, a premium surfactant was used at a loading of 1.5 gpt. SUSTAIN was used at a loading of 0.5 gpt—a third of the dosage rate – in the frac.

After a 12-month review of cumulative production, the SUSTAIN-treated well produced about 30% more oil and gas.

Biosurfactant-based SUSTAIN was used to significantly improve production at a fraction of the dosage rate of traditional surfactants.

SUSTAIN improves flowback, penetrates deeper into shale rock and has unmatched reservoir retention properties that extend its release. This results in faster peak oil, higher estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) and prolonged well lifespan.
