Case Study:
Overview
A re-frac was completed on a well in the Middle Bakken formation of the Williston basin. The well was treated with SUSTAIN biosurfactant-based additives, and production performance was compared to re-fracs on two analog wells using surfactants from a major service company.
Details
• Unconventional North Dakota well
• Middle Bakken, 5,000’ lateral
• 75-day cumulative oil analysis
Post-Treatment Highlights
• 16% higher cumulative oil
• $250,000+ in additional oil
Results:
After 75 days, SUSTAIN-treated well produced 15% more oil compared to the analog well. At the time of treatment in 2021, this equated to more than a quarter of a million dollars of extra crude oil. Notedly, its trend in incremental oil production was consistently higher than the well treated with traditional surfactants, with their performance gap widening over time.
Biosurfactant-based technology significantly improved production compared to traditional surfactants.
SUSTAIN improves flowback, penetrates deeper into shale rock and has unmatched reservoir retention properties that extend its release. This results in faster peak oil, higher estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) and prolonged well lifespan.
